About this act
Nirvana, formed in Aberdeen, Washington in 1987 by Kurt Cobain and Krist Novoselic and completed by drummer Dave Grohl, became the band that pushed alternative rock into the mainstream. The 1991 album Nevermind and its single Smells Like Teen Spirit turned the trio into the voice of a generation, followed by In Utero and the acclaimed MTV Unplugged in New York. With more than 75 million records sold and an induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Nirvana left behind a catalogue of raw, melodic classics: Smells Like Teen Spirit, Come as You Are, Lithium, In Bloom, Heart-Shaped Box, About a Girl and The Man Who Sold the World.
