A tribute band is a professional live band that honours the repertoire, sound and often the look of an original artist or band. Tributeworld only works with experienced tribute shows that recreate the feel of the original on stage — arrangements, instrumentation, costumes and presentation.

Tribute bands are booked for festivals, theatre shows, municipal events, corporate parties, product launches, anniversaries, open-air concerts, themed parties and weddings. Tributeworld provides both club formats and full-scale theatre and festival productions.
For peak dates (summer festival season, Christmas, New Year) we recommend 6–12 months in advance. For regular dates 2–4 months is common. Last-minute bookings are often still possible — contact us for current availability.

Absolutely. Many acts have a dedicated theatre programme with dramaturgy, storyline and matching lighting and sound design. We work with most theatres in the Netherlands and Belgium and can book full theatre tours.

Choosing the right tribute band starts with one question: what do you want your audience to feel? Not which artist they like — what you want them to feel. That answer determines everything else.
A tribute band that works at a corporate gala will not necessarily work at an outdoor summer festival. The differences go beyond genre. A theatre audience expects narrative and musicianship. A festival crowd wants energy and recognition. A corporate audience wants atmosphere without distraction. Before you scroll through any roster, define the room: who is in it, what age, what mood, what moment in the evening.
Disco and funk tributes — think Kool & The Gang, ABBA, Boney M — reliably fill a dance floor. They work across age groups and require minimal context. Rock tributes — Queen, Bon Jovi, Guns N' Roses — deliver spectacle and singalong moments but need volume and space. Narrative shows — Pink Floyd, The Doors, Frankie Goes To Hollywood — reward a seated, attentive audience. Soul and R&B acts — Whitney Houston, Beyoncé, Aretha Franklin — work in almost any setting but shine at galas and theatres.
A four-piece tribute fits a club stage or intimate venue. A ten-piece with horns, backing vocalists and a full production requires a main stage, a proper PA and a technical crew. Booking a large production for a small venue creates problems on both sides. Always check the technical rider before confirming.
The best tribute acts don't just sound like the original — they look the part. Costumes, lighting, staging and presentation all contribute to the experience. For theatre bookings in particular, the visual dimension is as important as the music. Ask for a promo video and watch the full show, not just the highlight reel.
How many shows has the act performed in the past year? Do they have references from similar events? What is their cancellation policy? Is the line-up stable or do members change regularly? A professional tribute act answers all of these without hesitation.

A technical rider is the document that lists everything an act needs to perform — on stage, backstage and logistically. Reading it correctly saves you from expensive surprises on show day.
Most professional tribute acts require a line-array PA system sized to the venue. For a club of 300 people, a compact system suffices. For a festival stage of 2,000+, you need a full-scale touring rig with delay towers. The rider specifies minimum SPL requirements, FOH desk (usually digital, often a specific model), monitor setup and the number of channels on the stage plan.
Theatre and festival acts often have a dedicated lighting design. The rider lists the minimum rig: moving heads, wash fixtures, hazers or fog machines, follow spots. For outdoor shows, power requirements and IP ratings matter. Never assume your house rig is sufficient — check against the rider first.
Some acts travel with their own instruments. Others require backline to be provided locally — drum kit (specific make and model), amplifiers, keyboard stands. The rider is explicit about this. Providing the wrong drum kit is one of the most common causes of soundcheck delays.
Riders include catering requirements: hot meals, drinks, dietary requirements and sometimes specific items. For professional tribute acts the requirements are reasonable, but they are contractual. Budget for them.
Load-in time, number of parking spaces for crew vehicles, dressing room requirements, Wi-Fi, security — all in the rider. The more complex the show, the more detailed the logistics section. Tributeworld supplies the full rider in advance and can deliver complete technical production on request, removing the need to coordinate this yourself.
Understanding show formats helps you plan the rest of your event. The wrong format ruins the flow of an evening that was otherwise perfectly programmed.
Festival slots are typically 60 to 90 minutes without a break. The act builds energy across the set, peaks at the headline songs and closes with an encore. Programme two acts on the same stage? Allow 45–60 minutes for changeover unless you have a B-stage.
A theatre evening consists of two sets of around 45 minutes with an interval of 20–25 minutes. The break supports bar revenue and gives the audience processing time. Many narrative shows use the two-part structure to build a storyline across the evening.
For corporate events where music alternates with speeches, networking or dinner, a three-part format works best. 30 minutes of music, break, 30 minutes, break, 30 minutes. This keeps energy high without letting music dominate the evening.
For venue nights, two or three sets of 45–60 minutes across an evening is standard. The act adjusts energy to the crowd — warming up early, peaking later. Discuss set times in advance so the act can plan their setlist accordingly.
An encore is standard practice and should be factored into your schedule. Budget an extra 10–15 minutes. Do not schedule the next act or close the bar immediately after the final song.
Booking a tribute act through Tributeworld follows a clear process. Here is exactly what to expect from first contact to show day.
Contact us via the contact page or by phone. Share the essentials: date, location, event type, expected audience size, budget indication and any preferred acts. The more context you give, the better our recommendation.
We respond with available acts that fit your event, including fee, technical conditions and a brief motivation for each recommendation. You are never locked in at this stage.
Once you select an act, we place a free 7-day option hold. The date is blocked for you while you confirm internally. No payment required at this stage.
You confirm the booking. We send a contract and invoice for a 50% deposit. The deposit secures the date and activates the booking.
4–6 weeks before the show, our production team contacts your venue to align the technical requirements: PA, lighting, stage, load-in schedule and catering. We supply the full technical rider and answer any questions from the venue.
The act arrives per the agreed schedule. Soundcheck typically runs 2–3 hours before doors. Our team is available throughout the day for any questions or last-minute adjustments.
The remaining 50% is invoiced after the show. We follow up to ask how the event went. Your feedback directly informs how we develop our roster and recommendations.
Booking a tribute act for an event outside the Benelux requires additional planning, but it is something Tributeworld handles regularly. Here is what is involved.
For shows in Germany, France, England and other European countries, travel costs are quoted separately and depend on distance, number of crew and equipment requirements. For most European destinations, road travel by splitter van or tour bus is standard. For long-haul destinations, fly-dates are arranged with shippable backline to control costs.
For shows outside the EU, work permits and visas may be required for musicians. Lead time varies by country — some require 8–12 weeks. We handle all permit applications as part of the booking process.
For international shows we work with trusted local production partners who know the venue, the local crew rates and the technical infrastructure. This avoids the cost and complexity of flying an entire crew from the Netherlands.
International contracts are issued in EUR. For UK bookings, GBP contracts are available. All contracts include force majeure clauses and cancellation terms appropriate to the booking value.
