With the original Arctic Monkeys currently inactive on the touring circuit, tribute act Antarctic Monkeys took the initiative. During their headline show at O2 Academy Leeds, they gave the new track 'Opening Night' its live debut. The song was recently released for the War Child 'Help(2)' charity album, but has yet to be performed by Alex Turner and company.

Frontman Dean Reynolds stated it felt special to be the first to play it. While the crowd was initially quiet during the unfamiliar verses, they sang along loudly once the chorus hit. The tribute band has now made the track a permanent fixture in their setlist.

Attendance at tribute shows is surging as fans wait for news of a main band reunion. As long as the original icons stay off the road, professional tribute acts continue to deliver the high-energy live experience that festivals and theaters demand.
