The tension between the original Sex Pistols members continues. Bassist Glen Matlock has responded to John Lydon’s recent claims that the current band line-up is merely a 'tribute act'. Lydon, who has stayed away from the reunion, previously described the shows with vocalist Frank Carter as 'karaoke'.
Matlock, currently promoting his documentary 'I Was a Teenage Sex Pistol', clarified that Lydon was not invited to participate in the film due to his likely lack of interest. According to Matlock, a reunion with the original singer is 'just not going to happen'. He notes that while Lydon is busy with Public Image Ltd. (PiL), the remaining original members are focused on their upcoming 50th-anniversary tour.
Lydon continues to distance himself from the group, calling their current direction 'unacceptable'. Meanwhile, Matlock remains proud of the band's impact and his own songwriting contributions to their legendary 1977 debut album.
