On Sunday, 5 July, Stereo Sunday and The Tribute Agency jointly organised Legends @ The Park in Venlo. Five tribute bands performed in a large tent, all known from the TV programme 'The Tribute: Battle Of The Bands'.
Coming On Strong opened with Golden Earring classics such as 'Radar Love' and 'Long Blond Animal'. Afterwards, The Cosmic Carnival took over the stage with an atmospheric Fleetwood Mac set.
The audience went wild for Donna's Hotstuff. The thirteen members — including four backing vocalists — created a dance party with hits like 'MacArthur Park' and 'State Of Independence'. Singer Irma sounded just like Donna Summer herself.
Then it was time for rock. The Vipers flew over from Italy for a full-fledged Queen show. From 'Bohemian Rhapsody' to 'We Are the Champions' — the complete repertoire. Singer Giuseppe even appeared on stage with a king's cloak and crown. Entertaining and convincing.
Closing act Beach Boys' Best visibly brought emotion to the older audience. The crowd sang along, honouring Brian Wilson, who passed away last year.
The festival was well-organised, with food trucks and multiple bars. A successful first edition — hopefully returning in 2027.
