U2 performs surprise 50th-anniversary gig at former high school

Tributeworld Editorial

It has been fifty years since Larry Mullen Jr. posted his famous 'drummer seeks musicians' note at Mount Temple High School. To celebrate, U2 returned to the Dublin campus today for a surprise career-spanning set in the playground. The band walked out to Alice Cooper's 'School's Out' for a crowd of students and former teachers.

The setlist moved from early hits like 'I Will Follow' to the live debut of their new single 'Silencio'. A highlight was 'One', performed alongside local teenage musicians. Bono and The Edge shared emotional tributes to the teachers and the environment that shaped the band's early career.
